Started production in Holland in 1995, Sova Bedding will exhibit new products under Sova brand first in Sleepwell Expo Istanbul.
A new player in boxspring manufacturing in Turkey, Sova Bedding produces both in metal and soft groups as a European centered company. General Manager Mehtap Akkoyun says that electric boxspring is their main product, which has 5 moving pattern instead of 3. She emphasized that her company will bring a fresh breath in sleep system with their motto of “Sleep in deep” in Sleepwell Expo.
Would you tell us about the story of your brand Sovebedding?
It started in Holland in 1995 as Sova Bedding by producing special series of sofas. Production has been carried out for years. Following the R&D works the company has focused on boxspring production and from 2008 onward it stopped the production of special series of sofas. In 2015 we decided to produce in Turkey and has opened the 2nd boxspring production facility in Turkey. In the facility, there are two lines, one is for metal and the other is for soft group of products. In the first line, boxspring mechanisms and apparatus that Electric Adjustable Bed are produced. In the soft line, is for the production of semi- finished or finished products.
Which segment is your target market? What are the characteristics of your products?
Our production complies with European standards, because, we are headquartered in Europe and produce for upper segment of the market. Electrical boxspring is our main product, which has an ability to move in five ways instead of three. New movements are added on the head and foot side of standard mattress. This made it completely new in terms of its visual and comfort qualities. This product will be exhibited in Sleepwell Expo.
How large is the production capacity of your factory?
Our capacity is increasing day after day. Our facility is in Kayseri, Incesu organized industrial zone which has aerial conveyor, electro static powder paint stations, where metal dyeing works for both domestic production and the products made in Holland. Metal products are painted at this factory. It has also a welding Workstation that are design for the health of workers having powerful fans for forceful circulation of air. Raw materials are procured from Turkey; in some cases we also import materials from abroad.
Would you inform us about volume of exports and domestic sales?
Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Holland, England, Germany, Austria, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon and the Gulf region are our export markets. I have to mention that we have no sales in domestic market. We produce under Sova Bedding and sell our products through Akrasova company. Our professional sales team will increase the sales in a short period.
What is your opinion about the situation of the mattress industry in Turkey?
Turkey has become a powerful competitor in mattress manufacturing in the world. It strive to improve its quality for more powerful competition. Emphasizing only on price would harm all companies and exporters of mattresses. As Sova Bedding we do not compromise on quality and will keep our quality standards high. All of us, all companies in the sector operating in Turkey, have to follow latest developments in the sleep technologies and products. We believe in the power of Turkish producers.
What are your final comments?
We will take our position in Sleepwell Fair that will be held on 20 to 12 October. We will make a show with our products that are produced by having years of experience with the efforts of professional teams. We will be a newcomer in Turkish market with our Sova Bedding brand with our motto, “Sleep in deep”.
